Who I Am!

Stefan Michaël de Jong is my name and music is my game, in this piece of text I will give a brief history of my life.

I was born in the town of Woerden Holland and been raised there till my 6'th birthday, from there I moved to Alphen aan den Rijn where I still live (although now in a bigger place). I learned to appreciate music after a concert of Vangelis in the year of 1992/93 and immediately after the concert I went playing his cd's and playing along with them on my very first 2 octave keyboard. I liked to do this so much that I bought a bigger keyboard and learned myself to play with chords and accompanies... I learned myself to compose small easy tunes. But I wanted more I wanted a setup like Vangelis has... lots of synthesizers so I was saving up my money again.

Somewhere along the year of 1997 I bought a big synthesizer workstation and learned to make electronic music in form of house and hardcore. I also learned to appreciate classical music that year and started to show interest in playing classical. In the early beginning of 1998 I went to have lessons in classical music and soon found out I had a talent for this kind of music and I enjoyed playing it a lot. In this same year I bought a extra synthesizer for making lead sounds and playing more trance like tunes... but always with a hard beat in it.

The next year was a bit quiet in music... I went on making lots of tunes and riffs and evolved a bit in classical music (I then was playing in august for 1 year).

Around the year of 1999 I was even more fascinated by classical music that I really learned difficult pieces, even though I was still playing on a normal keyboard. In this year I acquired my biggest synthesizer as the first of whole Europe and I could finally play classical pieces as they should be played since this synthesizer has the full 88 weighted keys. I progressed with the piece of Beethoven namely the Sonata Pathetique and learned to play this as it should be done. In this year I went to the Uitmarkt (opening of the cultural season) and went to see my favorite pianist namely Wibi Soerjadi, after his concert I saw a Bösendorfer concert grand at the stopera plein this squire was fully packed with people but still I wanted to play so I contacted the owner of the instrument who allowed me to play... after playing for 45 minutes at least at a packed squire I received applause and congratulations about my playing, just after that Wibi Soerjadi himself walked up to me and was totally amazed with my progression in music since I was just playing piano for 1.5 years at that moment, he became a close musical friend and we admire each other within music.

After that year things turned out to go into fast forward, I became an employee at piano shop and got hooked up with a new teacher . He now gives lessons occasionally and I progress even further I now am a semi professional pianist and am giving quite a lot of small classical gigs, to be honest most of them are at weddings but some of them are really special.

After all those developments I also wanted to do more with my electronic music so I bought a drum machine to make rhythms and such with this machine I am now making cyber gothic, the musical style I always had interest in from the moment I started making music, I now have enough material to make enough tracks of music and I found a name to fit with the music namely TuraTempla, this is the name I will be known by in this style of music. I now am involved in a few projects which I will describe within this website, and I hope I soon will be able to stand upon the stage with my own music and I will keep you updated along the stream of time.

What do I do?

My life is all about music... always been always will be, this is a blessing but sometimes even a curse (at moments your musical equipment says its goodbye's or when there is just no possibility to express yourself because there are no instruments...) my life is always filled with music... from waking up to going asleep. My musical life is as broad as you can imagine...

I listen from classical to trance, techno, gothic, and so on... and I make it all... Its what my whole life is all about. I work half day's at a publisher and on Saturday at a Piano Shop, I make my living through music, and give regular small gigs at weddings... my life consists of music... and If you want to hear me please do... for a small sample see my downloads section or visit me life at one of my public gigs.
